The Folly Beach City Council convened an emergency session on Friday to establish short-term rules restricting the entry of vehicles to Folly Beach. This extraordinary measure, on par with those taken during hurricane seasons, is intended to further protect the island from the Coronavirus. These rules, as described here, were enacted as of Friday at 2 pm. Through March 31, all vehicles will be stopped between the hours of 6 am and 8 pm. Drivers will be asked to provide identification or materials to show that they have a reason to enter the island. The Council will regroup on March 30 to determine whether this restriction should be extended.
