Easter Sunday: Celebrations on Folly are Subdued

On this sunny and joyous day, Easter is being celebrated on Folly Beach in far more subdued ways. In the past, our three churches: Baptist, Catholic, and Methodist opened up their arms and doors to hundreds of churchgoers. Also, a sunrise vigil on the pier, as arranged by these these house of worship, was popular among locals and others.

In contrast, on this Easter churches have opted to shutter their doors for the safety of their worshippers. A somber quieting of the typical chiming church bells, which greet one and all, has not deterred those celebrating this day of resurrection and rebirth. In fast, two churches are live-streaming their services today to comfort those near and far.

Easter assures all of us that love always continues. It offers us rays of hope and promises a better life ahead.
