The Folly Beach City Council has reopened the main boat landing in the town. This ruling (Covid-19, v12) was attributed to the S.C. Governor's reversal on access to waterways. Governor Henry McMaster decided on Thursday to permit this greater freedom as "a small step" towards increasing recreational activities for all. Boaters will be limited to two people, or to just family members. Stopping in the waterways is only allowed for fishing.
This improved access was greeted by many as a positive sign, as the state strives to "open up" more.
Beach rules remain unchanged with access only available for those who own or are renting beach-front property.
