Unlike past spring breaks on the island, Folly Beach's' vibe is very somber these days. Following directives newly issued by the South Carolina state government, Folly is bracing for the impacts attributed to the Coronavirus. Akin to hurricane preparations, the city government is only offering services virtually. The two Charleston County Park properties are now closed: Beach park on the west side and the Pier. Restaurants and bars, as shown below, are all but shuttered - save for takeout services that also may soon end due to not being sustainable for these businesses. The Folly Beach City Council held a meeting today to discuss how to best limit access to the island - due to thousands descending on our beaches on Thursday. More details and updates will be posted to our web site in upcoming days.
Stay safe everyone!
