Folly Beach once again welcomed the holidays by holding its annual Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 14. A few thousand lined Center Street to watch the parade on a sunny afternoon. Nearly five dozen entrants paraded along the route – many tossing thousands of candy pieces to the celebrators who were all smiles. Participants included Folly Beach organizations and businesses, nearby marching bands, charities (including Pet Helpers, Warrior Surf), and local homeowners. The judges awarded monetary prizes to nine of the entrants among these three categories: “Best Band/Musical Group,” “Most Original,” and “Best Spirit of the Season.” Santa Claus, who threw candy canes from atop a ladder engine, culminated this enjoyable event.
