Folly Beach - Tornado "Near Miss" (4/13/20)

Updated: Apr 14, 2020

As Folly residents are battered by Covid-19 fears, a tornado watch further ratcheted the anxieties of homeowners today. At 9:00 this morning, locals received this emergency message:

TORNADO WARNING in this area. Take Shelter Now.

Local news stations warned about how the path of a potential tornado would sweep between James Island and the Folly Beach island. We were advised to go to the lowest area of the home to take shelter

Fortunately, as the picture shows, Folly was beset only with high winds and heavy rains for an hour-long period.

Last, it seems that there is little if any home damage (e.g., no errant roof shingles) in our neighborhood.
