Summer Reminders


Parking: Updated signage has been installed in our community reminding owners and guests of parking rules. All vehicles and golf carts must display a valid Water’s Edge tag/decal and not be parked illegally (on grassy areas or parked in driveways without a reflector). If a vehicle is found without a tag/decal and/or parked illegally for any amount of time, a towing or booting company will be called to remedy the situation. To avoid unnecessary conflict, please do not confront or warn guests. Use the proper authority or call Liz Thomas with Poston immediately. We ask that all owners remind their guests, renters and property management companies of these rules as they pose safety and traffic issues.


Termites: We have discovered a few units in recent months that are infested with termites or suffered termite damage. We are asking all owners to please inspect on a regular basis for any swarms, active water leaks that may invite termites inside, or any hollowed wood structures in or around your home.


HomePest, our contracted pest control company, conducts monthly exterior inspections and will inspect interiors if requested. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Liz Thomas with Poston.


Grill Usage: Summer grilling and barbecue is a delicious way to enjoy local foods or catches of the day. However, please be aware of any fire hazards that improper grill use can cause. Our Water’s Edge Rules and Regulations state the following:

  • Charcoal burners and other open-flame cooking devices shall not be operated on combustible balconies or within 10 feet of combustible construction.

  • Charcoal grills are not allowed for use under porches. They MUST be used at least 10 feet away from the units according to the Fire Department and HOA insurance requirements.

  • No dumping of coals in the common areas.

Please remember, owners are responsible for guests and tenants.


Rental Units Capacity: For any home in Water’s Edge that is a rental unit, no more than eight people at one time are allowed to occupy it.


Per Chapter 117 of Folly Beach Ordinances: The maximum overnight occupancy of each rental dwelling, which shall not exceed two persons per bedroom, plus two additional people per rental dwelling, except as allowed under an exception. Eight people is maximum capacity per unit. Exceptions must be applied for to the City of Folly Beach.
